Actress Lauren Hutton said of Donald Trump's potential presidential candidacy: 'Elvis is not supposed to be President.'Lauren Hutton gave us what is our favorite quote so far about Donald Trump's presidential adventure ? and she didn't even use his name. "You know, Elvis is not supposed to be President," the still-stunning Hutton told us when we broached the subject at Vanity Fair's Tribeca Film Festival soiree at the State Supreme Court building on Wednesday. "They're different jobs. There's Elvis, and then there's the President."
Attorney, absent
We hear attorney Barry Slotnick missed the lavish Las Vegas wedding of his client Steve Wynn, albeit for a good reason. The casino magnate's nuptials, which took place Saturday, conflicted with the naming ceremony for Slotnick's granddaughter Julia Rose in Scarsdale. Considering Wynn welcomed 1,000 guests to the ceremony, we're betting Slotnick wasn't missed.
Goldie isn't the only hot blond in the room
Kurt Russell knows a hot blond when he sees one. A source who dined at Amaranth on Wednesday night tells us the 60-year-old actor and his companion since 1983, Goldie Hawn, made quite a "cute couple" when they dined at the upper East Side eatery. But when a pretty young thing walked by the couple's table on her way to the loo, Russell, another source says, "checked her out" and did a serious double-take. Luckily for Russell, Hawn, clad in tank top and glasses, was too busy checking her phone to notice her beau's wandering eyes.
Movie magic works around labor laws
If you build it, he can work. The crew filming "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" has erected special scaffolding around a Morningside Heights building to accommodate first-time actor Thomas Horn. Child labor laws limit the 13-year-old "Jeopardy" champ's workday, so the filmmakers built an elaborate enclosure around the exterior of a third-floor apartment at 400 Riverside Drive that turns day into night. Horn, who won $31,800 on the game show, will make his acting debut with Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock in the movie adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's novel. Hanks and Bullock have yet to be seen at the address, but a source tells us that on Wednesday, actor Max von Sydow stumbled into the co-op's annual shareholders meeting in the building's lobby ? during a discussion about installing low-flow toilets.
Will Ferrell lets his funny show through
Will Ferrell let down guests at the after-party for his dramedy, "Everything Must Go" on Wednesday night by being on his best behavior. Ferrell was more family man than funny man at Macao Trading Co. on Church St., as he sat chatting with his father, former Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell, over Heinekens. His wife, Viveca, brother and mother were also on hand. The "Anchorman" didn't entirely disappoint though: On his way out of the fete, Ferrell did give one hyped-up fan a big bear hug to calm the dude down.
Flashback for Bernie
Drew Nieropent gave Elton John's longtime songwriting collaborator, Bernie Taupin, a blast from the past at the Tribeca Film Festival Jurors Luncheon at Tribeca Grill. Cameron Crowe's "The Union," about the making of Elton and Leon Russell's much-lauded CD of the same name, had opened the festival just a few days earlier, and Nieporent came to the luncheon bearing a much rarer recording featuring both artists: a bootleg tape that the restaurateur had recorded himself of a 1970 show here at the Fillmore East. In the show, Russell was the headliner and John was the opening act. Nieporent tells us he's burning a CD copy for Taupin.
