In a statement Tuesday, Disney Channel said it respects Lovato's decision to focus on her music and "not immediately" return to acting.

Disney offered its support while Lovato acts to "improve her health and bounce back from diversity."

The 18-year-old entered a treatment facility for three months last year to deal with what were termed emotional and physical issues.

Lovato told People magazine that returning to the TV show wouldn't be healthy for her recovery and she wants to make music her priority.

In an interview with ABC News airing Friday, Lovato said she developed an eating disorder as an 8-year-old, then later started cutting her wrists to vent her despair.
