In wake of fan's beating, Dodgers drop half-price beer offer for day games

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that the team was dropping plans to offer half-price beer at six midday games this season.

The team, responding to the opening-day beating of a San Francisco Giants fan in the Dodger Stadium parking lot, will still offer half-price food and soft drinks during the selected games, but alcohol will not be included in the promotion.

The six-game promotion begins April 21 with a midday game against the Atlanta Braves.

Some critics had called on the team to drop the half-price beer promotion in the aftermath of the beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow, who remains in a medically induced coma.
