Jessica Simpson adopts dog once owned by fiance's ex

Jessica Simpson is a new mom to fianc� Eric Johnson's dog, an Airedale terrier named Bentley.

As the saying goes, one person's loss is another person's gain.

Jessica Simpson has recently adopted fianc� Eric Johnson's dog, an Airedale terrier named Bentley.

But, in an interesting twist, the pooch was once shared by Johnson and his ex-wife, Keri, who split in October 2009, according to Us Weekly. Johnson got the dog after the separation.

"He's the best dog. I love him to death," Simpson, 30, told People.com. "At first he would growl at me, and now he comes and snuggles up to me. It's like I have a brand new dog."

This comes at a good time for Simpson, who tragically lost her five-year-old Maltipoo, named Daisy, to a coyote back in September 2009.

"My heart is broken because a coyote took my precious Daisy right in front of our eyes," she wrote on Twitter at the time. "Horror!"

Daisy was a gift from ex-husband Nick Lachey and quickly became the singer-turned-fashion designer's constant companion.

Simpson and Johnson, who became engaged last November, has yet to set a formal date for their upcoming nuptials, but has said they hope to wed by Christmas of this year.
