Then City Councilman Anthony Weiner gets some love from a 1996 Cosmo magazine article.Long before his last name became a national joke, Rep. Anthony Weiner was voted one of Cosmopolitan magazine's "101 Gorgeous Real Life Bachelors."
A fresh-faced Weiner was featured in the venerable fashion mag in 1996 when he was a 35-year-old city councilman.
"The Future President?" read a headline over a pic of Weiner, dressed in a plaid wool jacket over a gold vest and white button-down shirt.
Asked what qualities he looked for in his "First Lady," Weiner said: "Someone smarter than me. I want to be sucked back into the throes of love - isn't that what everyone really wants?"
The piece notes that Weiner is a Virgo whose office was located at 1901 Ave. U in Brooklyn.
Weiner told the magazine he aspired to run for Congress, and his favorite cartoon character is Newt Gingrich.
"For obvious reasons," Weiner quipped.
