4 people injured in crash on northbound Arroyo Seco Parkway

LOS ANGELES - Four people were injured when a motorist in a white Ford Explorer drove southbound on the northbound Arroyo Seco Parkway and crashed head-on into a blue Toyota Prius south of Avenue 52 late Sunday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

One of the people had to be extracted from a vehicle, fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

All of the patients were taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital, he said.

The Explorer overturned in the 10:50 p.m. crash, said CHP Officer J. Paul.

"This collision caused major damage to both vehicles and major injuries to involved parties," Paul said.

The driver of the Explorer was arrested for felony DUI, Paul said. The collision report does not note whether the driver was a man or woman. There was also a passenger in the Ford. There were two people in the Prius.

The two far right lanes of the parkway were closed for about 90 minutes for the rescue and investigation.
