According to the Beastie Boys' Adam Horovitz, SpongeBob SquarePants may be trading his pineapple under the sea for something a little less scenic -- a jail cell. While recently riding on the New York City subway, Horovitz was confronted by a man dressed in a SpongeBob SquarePants costume who was hoping to make a buck off the Beastie Boy.
"This fkn guy bumps into me and tries to run the broken watch scam on me," Horovitz wrote on the Beastie Boys' Tumblr. "You know what i mean ... he shows me some bullsh--ty watch on his wrist and he's like ... 'yo. you broke my f--kin' watch! you owe me 500 dollars.'"
A jolt on the train then sent the man flying before Horovitz shouted, "F--k you SpongeBob."
Thinking that his strange encounter for the day was complete, Horovitz got another surprise when he saw the same cartoon clad man being escorted from the subway station by police.
"I guess SpongeBob tried to steal somebody's blackberry or something and got busted by an undercover cop," Horovitz wrote after snapping a pic of SquarePants' "perp walk."
Sounds like quite a day for the hip-hopper who is reeling off of the success of the Boys' most recent album, which was released in late April, 'Hot Sauce Committee Part 2.'
